If you ask them why they do what they do, guess what heroes say? They’ll tell you they don’t feel like they’re anyone special. They can’t understand why anyone thinks they’ve done anything extraordinary. They’ll tell you that given the chance, you would have done the same thing. The scary thing about heroes? They think they’re just like us. That if situations were reversed, we’d do exactly what they did. Here’s the thing: we can. We can practice being heroic. We can stand up. We can think for ourselves, step away from the crowd, and make our own choices.
